Senior School Excursion to the National Gallery of Victoria

Next was a walk to take in the dramatic and contemporary architecture of Fed Square and its various buildings. The students made comparisons between this and the Gothic architecture of St. Paul’s Cathedral. From here we ventured to the gritty laneways in the CBD featuring street art; with its chaotic and random arrangements of art works sprawling across doorways, walls, whole buildings and bins! This was in stark contrast to the curated display of the Hockney exhibition at the gallery, where a collection of rooms was dedicated to specific themes.

In all a great day out, with many new experiences encountered, with the aim to broaden our students’ viewpoints and perspectives on their city in which they live.
